I had to help her get in good with the teacher, of course. :-) Not that her charm and intelligence alone wasn't enough.
I made a similar one (inset photo) about a year ago. Her teacher's apple cozy shows me that I've improved my knitting skill since then, but you can't tell it in the photo with my daughter.
Whew. I got too excited there for a little bit! I received my swap package from Laurraine today and I couldn't have been more impressed with everything! I couldn't wait for my four year old to finish her computer game, so I called her up in Canada to thank her. What a treat it was to speak with her! She is just as delightful as I knew she would be.
So...here's the loot! Woo-hoo!
Click on the images for a larger view.
Some of the yarn is for knitting into dishcloths for her, to be included in my swap package to her, and the rest is for ME! Wee!
The fabric...um, yes. It's only Japanese fabric...from Japan! She picked it up especially for me on her last trip there.
You already saw the teacup pouch (sent with fabulously scented tea bags)...I can assure you, it's even lovelier in person! Then there's the adorable lavender sachets that she makes. Just darling!
So...you can see why I'm emotionally spent right now! Getting such a grand package and talking with her on the phone...it's been a really fun morning!
Thanks Patchy!

This is my first weaving project on my new LeClerc Iris Table Loom (with stand). I knew better than to start a large project without having a warping buddy or at least someone to watch my four year old little girl while I did it.
I have only read books and viewed photo tutorials on the internet, so I'm sure that this 'small' experience of warping just 54 threads will help me better understand the whole process. I've achieved a good tension, I believe. Maybe someone with a little more experience could tell me if they see something that I could fix. I only have a hair comb to work with for a reed, as the reed that came with the loom is 12 dpi and I need about a 20 for what I want to do. Also, I know I will go back to front next time, as passing the warp through the heddles twice made my cotton all fuzzy. YES...I knew it was going to happen, per the books and message boards I frequent...I only did it front to back this time because I didn't have a raddle and the heddles were a big help in keeping it straight while warping the back beam.
I chose red, dark pink and light pink in honor of Valentine's Day. I love the pattern. Little squares with a dot in the middle.
All critiques and suggestions completely welcome!

I was commissioned by the wonderful Patchwork Pottery Artist Laurraine Yuyama to make these cloths.
Yes, they are boring and I complained about having to make one stitch over and over again, but I’ve actually missed having something mindless to knit while just sitting around! Here's the pattern.
I think I’ll start another one this evening. :-)
My friend Brenda brought the hat that I knitted for her to our Fiber Therapy group so that I could get a photo of it.
It's the Robin's Egg Blue Hat by Rachel Iufer. I used yarn that I recycled from an Abercrombie and Fitch Sweater Coat.

In honor of my sweet Hubby who is turning 30 next week, RecycleMicol is offering FREE PRIORITY MAIL shipping on any hand-spun yarn in my Etsy Shop!
I also just listed this cool retro potholder. Lemon-Lime, Baby!
Ha-ha! My friends and family are going to have to put up with my retro hot pad craze at gift-giving time, whether they like the style or not! Hee-hee!
The one on the left is motleycruise's and the one on the right is the one I crocheted in about two hours of off & on crocheting. Hers is done in Bernat cotton and mine is Lily brand Sugar n' Cream. I am guessing that might be the reason that mine is a tad larger than hers. She also used a nice recycled blue yarn from a sweater for the edging. Such a nice shade! The bright blue of the Lily cotton is a bit low-brow to go with the natural yarn, I think. I believe it would be more suitable to go with a muted tone...or else do it completely in brights.
Ahhhh...don't you just love it when you have fresh kitchen linens??? Have you ever had someone special to MAKE them to match your kitchen? Let me tell you, Ms. motleycruiser from our Craftster.org Delicious Dishcloth Swap Round 2 is one such special person! Look at the goodies she has made for me in return for some of my handmade kitchen and bath accessories! See all of the other items in my Photos section...seriously...it's worth the look!!! (Detailed descriptions under each photo)
Yes...these are a few of my favorite things, thank you very much! Cotton, Ramie, Wool, Synthetics, Seed Beads and Fabrics all whirled together to make this enormous labor of love!

This is probably the last art yarn I'll be making for a couple of weeks. As much as I love it, it's so super time consuming! The beading itself is an hour and a half long process! But, it's so worth it!!! I love the beads. Too bad you can't see them in the photos...but you will be able to once the skein is worked up into something special! It's in my Etsy shop right now. More photos in my Photos section.
