Little baby feet need little booties! I knit these with the Moc-A-Soc pattern found at Bekah Knits here. It's a great pattern. I'll make more in the future, no doubt!
HERE they are in my Ravelry folder.
Oooo...and she just came out with an adult size pattern for it as well!
I did leave off the inside sock, as I got sick and ran out of time for knitting. I used some recycled cashmere sweater yarn, held together to make a sport weight. I hope the baby is comfy in them. He should be...they're soft and warm!
I felt so badly that day, and had a wedding to go to later in the evening, that I only stayed for a short time at the baby shower. I felt terrible about leaving just after she opened the gift. Oh well, she's a friend. She understood, I'm sure!
Wee! My sister sent pictures of Little Emily in her Auntie Micol's knitted goodies.
I knew the bonnet would be too large for a newborn. In fact, Big Brother Austin can almost wear it! But, by the Winter or early Spring, she'll have grown into it. I'll probably make a pair of larger booties to match it by then.
I guess knitting for babies appeals to me because the garments don't take as long to knit as full-size adult clothing. Besides...babies need to wear layers all-year long, as the air conditioning in buildings can often be too cold for them.
So...what shall I knit next? (Aside from my friend Laurraine's dishcloths?) I don't know...but I have sewing and some commissioned spinning to do that I am way behind on, so that might put any new knitting project on hold for a while.
Ciao!

Here are the little newborn things I made for Project Angel Kisses this month. We delivered them to the hospital nursery today, but we no longer get to see the little babies through the nursery windows due to privacy issues. (Click on the photos for notes about the items and a better view.) Still, I know they will be put to good use.
These are really fun. This is the website for the free pattern: Saartje Knits I have one more to go for the pair.
I used my own handspun yarn for this...which makes me even more proud! Handknit on size 3 double points. They'll fit a 3-6 month old baby, probably...or a really chubby-footed newborn!
Something amusing I found on my MSN homepage today.
Then...here is my little neighbor baby with the green Baby Eyelet Socks that I knitted for her! My first ever pair of socks to have ever completed. She'll be able to wear them by this winter or spring, probably.
Wear them in good health, little Arin!
